The San Antonio Needlework Guild looks forward to welcoming all of you to the luxurious Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel, Spa, and Conference Center for the 2020 South Central Region Seminar.  Located in San Marcos, TX it is a mid-point between historic San Antonio and vibrant Austin, Texas.  With a wonderful restaurant on the premises and many desirable amenities we are certain you will find your stay comfortable and enjoyable.  There are two large outlet malls with many well-known brands represented just a short distance from the hotel.  The hotel provides a “no-charge” shuttle bus to and from the outlet malls.  We recommend that you take advantage of this service.

We are very excited that our plans for Region Day have come together wonderfully.  You will have the opportunity to witness skills of craftsmen in two glass shops.  We will begin our day at the Wimberley Glassworks where artisans will treat you to a demonstration of their skills using blown-glass.  You will have time to explore their show room and do a little shopping too.  Next, we will proceed to The Silo Glass Gallery and Studio where two dozen Texas artists create their works in 3D art forms.  The Silo is the largest, purpose-built, warm glass studio in Central Texas.  It is situated next to a lovely grotto, you will enjoy watching and listening to two very relaxing waterfalls.  We will conclude our Region Day at the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment.  We will enjoy a delicious lunch and then take a boat ride on the famous glass bottom boat.  The glass bottom boat will allow you to witness the point where the San Marcos River bubbles from the ground as it heads down stream to the Gulf of Mexico.  Many forms of wildlife should be visible as we cruise around Spring Lake.  Some species are native to the San Marcos River and cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.  There will be archeological sites where early Americans and other settlers stopped along the river many years ago.  Transportation for the day will be by bus so be sure and reserve your seat early.  Join us for this special day of fun and fellowship.

Classes will begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday.  With our Creative Vision we have selected a diverse selection of instructors, plus we are offering 1, 2, or 3 day sessions.  You will be able to perfect some of the techniques that you are already familiar with or possibly take a look at a new stitch or two that you have been wanting to tackle.
